3 days of advocare

The first 2 days of Advocare were a bit touch and go for me.  I had a lot of nausea after trying to choke down the fiber drink.  All day yesterday I was very lethargic and dizzy and could not remember anything.  Today, I am very tired waking up and I am going to try a little deviation from this plan, because I dont' think this is exactly what everyone needs.  I was 4 lbs lighter this morning after only 2 days, so I cannot imagine after 24 days of doing this, here's to hoping. Today is going to be alot of lemon water.

Live Well.

ReAdovocare

Today is May 16 th and I have reached my June 1st goals for fitness level, weight, and tone.  I am not moving on to other goals that were to be achieved by September.  Goo mee.  I have gone up and down with the weight, and I must admit it is hard to keep on track when you have 4 little people running around.  I have come to realize that we can all only do our own best and be proud of any accomplishments to living healthier. Each step in the right direction is one for your own benefit, and everyone has set backs and plateaus when it comes to fitness, but we must persevere and keep trying for a healthier us.

I started the Advocare cleanse this morning and did not like the fiber drink, yuck.  I have heard wonderful things about this but so far gross & to top it off I have a massive headache. I will keep you posted on this Advocare system.

Live well and be healthy.

Advocare Diet plan

Well I have heard some really great things about this Advocare diet plan, so I decided to start the program.  All my stuff should be here by Wednesday of next week, and I will blog about the 24 day challenge and let you know how it is going.

I have reached a 6/7 in clothing size but just don't feel fit, so time to start some light weight training along with my jogging, strength, and cardio workouts. I have really enjoyed alternating my workouts between the Latin dancing, yoga, and taebo; they all keep me moving and keep me feeling great afterwards.

HUBBY: Well he had quite smoking for a very short time but could not and did not continue.  He has cut back on his food and has taken to gardening for his workout, which has helped him out. He wants to get back to a fit 34 inch waist and trim up.  GOOO Babe.

Give Away: OK people we have one person entered into the drawing, please share your stories on the blog.  If I get 25 followers and participants then I have a sponsor ready to pick this blog up and grow it, where we will get free samples and free offers.

That's all for now Take Care and Live Well.

Jump Starting your metabolism.

I am sure that I have mentioned that a good friend of mine is a nutritionist and has been helping me with my diet so that I do not starve my body or keep it from getting the essential nutrients that it needs.  On to my point: I have been trying just about everything to get over my weight loss hump, my body just does not want to loose any more weight.  So, I have been working with her to create a diet to jump start my body's metabolic rate again.  She is going to have me fast for 48 hours (water only) and then eat certain foods to restart my body's burning process.  During this 48 hours I cannot workout, and have to limit the amount of activity I do.  Then on the third day when I start eating I can do 1 20min workout in the morning, fourth day 30min, by the 7th day I am back to my calorie counting diet and regular workout routine again.

I'll give everyone results next Monday to let you know how I am doing.

New beginnings

So today I started the 2 times a day workout program to tighten up all this loose skin that I have now.  With 4 children, school, and work on the side; I hardly have time to shower lately but I am going to try to work in 15 min in the morning of interval training and 45 cardio & 15 strength training in the evenings. My nutrionist has me on a different diet because my 45 day challenge diet didn't do much for me, so now I am eating smaller portions but 5 meals cutting out cheese, crackers, breads, sweets, fried foods, pop, juice, and she is making me give up my creamer for my 1/2 c. of coffee, my morning granola bar, all dressing for my salad (except lemon), and condiments. [I do get to keep 4 oz of pasta in my diet.]  All for the good of my health she keeps reminding me.

So much to report.

I am feeling great, sleeping well and eating well.  The running is coming slowly, although I have to be honest the first time that I ran I though I would die due to a collapsed lung. My goodness I did not think I was that out of shape that I couldn't even run a 1/2 mile without stopping and walking for a bit, of course cold, windy days not the best to jog during. I was so excited to see the sun the past few days and have the warmer temperatures, bring on the Spring-my exercise time.

I am so proud of my children, while out and about yesterday we were out too long and people got hungry so we stopped at Sonic like we used to and my 7 yr old choose a grilled chicken wrap & water, which in turn made my 6yr old follow suit.  They are becoming healthier in their food choices also, well at least when nothing on the menu is healthy they chose as wisely as possible.  Go Av & Lil. They have also taken to each one taking turns running with mommy, so cute and my 7yr old AV keeps me motivated.

Update on the hubby as well, he is trying to eat healthier by choosing salads but still has a very long way to go.

Also, looking for a health food store if anyone knows of one, PM me.

I cannot wait until spring.

Springtime always makes me in a hurry to get into shape for a summertime bathing suit weather.  With spring comes warmer temperatures which makes it easier to get outside and workout.  My most favorite exercise is rollerblading, it gives me cardio and strength training in my lower area. Most of my workouts are keyed toward my lower area, since it is the area of my body that carries my weight.  In the meantime while winter and cooler temperatures are still with us here are a few calorie burning things that most of us have to do anyway.

Housewife workout-
scrubbing the shower for 30 minutes-200-300 cal
walking baby in stroller- 200 cal
mopping for 15 minutes- 70 cal
sweeping for 15 minutes-75 cal
dishes 20 min- 40-50 cal

A long slow process

This is a long slow process, but in the end I am losing weight the right way instead of starving myself.  I intend to keep the weight off, and like many people I am tempted by all things around: the convience of fast food, a Valentine's candy, a cookie, cake and ice cream at my son's birthday. So I have allowed myself within reason a little cake and ice cream on my son's birthday, and it doesn't help that my mother-in-law makes the best cakes.  I have reached a plateau though so time to shake it up. I am at 137 and holding, and yes that means that I gained back 2 lbs but that is alright with me because I look more tone.  I haven't heard any feedback in a while.

A really quick post today.  I am holding at 135lbs, so hopefully with this exercise program and 45 day challenge that it will work. I found a few interesting articles that I want to share, one is a recipe.

Diet Pills?/Official Reading

So a friend of mine asked about the use of diet pills and asked why I choose not to use anything.  Good question.  Here is my answer: I am choosing to not put anymore chemicals into my body then I have to, my choice is to loose weight and keep it off, through hard work and perseverance. I cannot say that I did not use things such as metabolife and zenydrine in the past but I have chosen not to take any substances.  My main reason is preservation of whatever longevity that life hold in store for me.  None of these diet pills or the effects upon our bodies have been studied by the FDA.

So my official reading this morning 135lbs, 1 1/2 inch off waist, 1/2  in off legs, 1 in off hips, 1/4 in off arms, 1/8 in off calves.

Coming in the rest of FEB:  More quick fitness ideas, How the 45 day program has worked, healthy eating tips & recipes.  March give away.

17 lbs to go to target.

138 lbs ladies.  This time last year while pregnant I was pushing-getting close to 190lbs, and for the longest time stuck at 150 lbs.  I am so happy to report that through my dieting efforts and the beginning of my 45 day challenge that I am 1 lb thinner today.  Tomorrow is actually my weigh-in day, and I already ate this morning. So tomorrow I will let you all know my true weight.  Today I start the workout portion of my 45 day challenge.  5 vigorous weeks of intense workouts.  Yeah buddy.

Back at it and Being Healthy.

So a few days have passed and Hubby has not had another smoke... yey!!  So today I am starting a 45 day challenge. Major exercise, diet, and also inner body health; I talked to my doctor before I started this. I have changed our diet slowly and we are adapting back to our older healthier eating habits, well at least I am.  (Still missing my Coke though.)  Last nights dinner: boiled chicken breast with salsa, small salad.  Yummy.  Hubby is being a bit more stubborn over the food, since he has had to give up his cigarettes.  I did find this article insightful. http://www.livestrong.com/article/377842-how-to-get-a-husband-to-eat-healthy/

Slip

With every healthy plan there must be room for human error, and misjudgement.  I cannot beat us over the head with the fact that we each slipped in our own way, but we can get back on track.

Well my hubby was doing so well and I was soooo proud, but he slipped and had a cigarette.  I was so bummed, and then disgusted with him for going backwards,and then I felt guilty for me being sick.  There are so many reasons that I keep reiterating to him to quit, but he has to want to quit, it is not enough for me to keep nagging him. {Not too many know but I watched my grandfather for years with emphysema and breathing treatments because he smoked (he passed away from cancer).  I watch my father slowly killing himself with a pack of cigarettes a day. I realize that my father will more then likely never watch any of his grandchildren graduate from high school, he will be 60 in four weeks. I hear all of this talk about legalizing marijuana with the rationalization that cigarettes are legal.  I counteract with how about illegalizing cigarettes!!!}

I started running last week. I had three days running in before falling ill late in the week (every little bit counts-right).  We have had fevers and runny noses ruling the house since last Monday.  So today is a little catch up--all around the board. I did slip and have 2 cokes also, which is horrible for my calorie count, but I will make it up this week.   Today I am starting again, with a morning yoga and then an afternoon run. I am still a bit under the weather, but at least I can move.

NEW GOAL: I want to run a short marathon in the late summer.

Very excited!

This morning I am very excited to report that my hubby has kicked the habit without ripping my head off. He has done an amazing job so far and I am going to continue to suport him and show him my love.   GREAT JOB Michael. We have begun our track to becoming a healthier us.  I am so Proud.

January 23, 2012

It has been a few days.

It has been a few days since my last post, so we need to catch up. Generally weekends are very busy with family activities here and this weekend was not exception. Weigh in this morning showed 7 successful lbs off of my original body weight.  I must say that I am surprised though.  My eating habits have change but not that drastically.  I cut out snacking, pop, and have been drinking alot of water.  I have been eating quite a few more salads.  I am trying to eat at least one salad per day & eat my large meal at lunch time.  Also, another tactic is to not eat 2.5 hours before bed.  I had 1/2 a small rootbeer float yesterday, it was yummy but I thought I would counteract with two salads today.  Nothing very interesting over the weekend.  Bye for now.

Woweewowwow

If you have not seen Wow-wow Wubbzy then you don't get my title.  I wish there was a Wubbzinator 3000 to make me skinny.  Week 2 is great, but eating healthy is harder then it sounds when you are used to eating out as much as we have.  I was out and looked at the calorie count of some of the salads that are offered by the fast food industry and I might as well eat a hamburger or chicken nuggets.  There are a few choices out there now that the fast food industry has health conscious people breathing down their necks to create better choices, especially for children.  I look around and see so many fat little children and wonder why their parents don't change their diet, but it is not cheap to eat healthy. I did decide to let myself have one day off so that I don't gorge on foods that I crave. I am doing very well with calorie counting, and allowing myself to eat what my body wants, within limitations.  Next week I am going to start weaning myself down on caffiene. I even thought about a colon cleanse, the healthy way.  I also started to jog slowly. I have to watch my hernia, so I cannot do full blown physical activity. Slow and steady is the way to keep it off.

FYI- This time last year I was pregnant and by the time my 4th child was born I tipped the scales at 185.  Now Today I am 142 and would like to reach 130 by July.

I found a website with healthy recipes: going to try one to night!
http://www.400caloriefix.com/uof/400caloriefix/trackfloa/?keycode=176161&cm_mmc=Fitbie.com-_-Homepage-_-Static%2520Top%2520Nav%2520Button%2520OA-_-400%2520Calorie%2520Fix

I also have been looking at light workouts that are effective, due to my hernia I am unable to do normal workouts.  I found this one:

Well take care people I hope you are striving at developing healthy habits also.

Week 2

Last week turned out well for us.  With my calorie counting I lost 3 lbs and have kept it off. My hubby is doing well without smoking.  Our home eating habits are begginning to change, all of the snacking in between meels has minimalized.

I found a Cholesterol article that I would like to share the url:

This eating Healthy thing is killing me.

Eating healthy 24/7 is killing me.  I have been craving chocolate like crazy and want to devour an entire bag of snickers at this point.  I have been sticking to my 1000 or less calorie diet per day, and have been doing well on it. I actually feel better. I have more energy.

My husband is so busy that it is hard to find the time to workout together.  Even if it is just doing the Wii.  He is doing well without smoking, and I just have to keep reminding him that he was the one who wanted to get healthy for Our children.

My personal goals:
1. Tone up withing 6 months
2. Try to decrease measurements by 1in in 6 months
3. eat out only 1 time per month
4.workout 4 times per week
5. try to increase energy levels naturally
6. Work my way into being able to run a marathon in a year.

Hubby's personal goals:
1. quit smoking
2. Eat Healthier
3. Tone up

January 11, 2012

Day 3 of our Adventure

So our overall goals are:
1. to be the healthiest Us that we can be without denying ourselves our idle pleasures in life, like the occassional candy bar, or MCD's run.  I must add this is hard to do when you have become relient upon the convience of the fast food industry and junk food.
2. We each are choosing to get toned up and into a fitness routine.  Our goal is to be toned in 6 months and to reach our maximum fitness level in a years time.

So day 2 ended with some raw broccoli for our family with ham and it was delicious.  I must say that eating raw vegetable is way more expensive then the frozen ones, but of course less sodium.  My hubby is doing wonderful quitting smoking. I walked yesterday for about 20 minutes. I am going to try to do this 3 times this week, it is a slow and steady start.  This week I am monitoring my caloric intake and trying to eat only 1000 calories per day.  So far so good.

January 9, 2012

Day1

A little backgroud information: My husband and I have been together for eight years, we have 4 amazing children together. Through each of my 5 pregnancies in the past 7 years my husband gained weight with me and lost some after we were not pregnant any longer, but we just never could get back into our original shapes. We are comfortable, and happy, but out of shape and not as healthy as we would like to be.  So we are undertaking this challenge for each other and our children.

Maybe I should start at the beginning. I recently took a trip with my four children to MI my home state to see my mother, while being away my husband became very ill and could not shake this illness. This adventure all started with him deciding to quit smoking & start slowly working out. So, I decided to follow him and support him throughout his time to reach his goals.  We have both dieted and worked out in the past 8 years but neither of us has stuck with a routine or had the support of the other. [In fact right before the holidays I had lost 10lbs and was elated to fit into some of my skinny jeans.  I had broken the barrier that had for so long kept me feeling depressed about the way I looked.]  We are going to start slow and work toward achievable goals.  I cannot say that we will not eat at McD's, but we will not be going there 2-3 times a week like we have been doing. I cannot say that we will workout everyday, but we will workout as we can and work into a routine.  With love and support we will reach our goals (we are still setting our goals to be listed later).
