Very excited!

This morning I am very excited to report that my hubby has kicked the habit without ripping my head off. He has done an amazing job so far and I am going to continue to suport him and show him my love.   GREAT JOB Michael. We have begun our track to becoming a healthier us.  I am so Proud.

It has been a few days.

It has been a few days since my last post, so we need to catch up. Generally weekends are very busy with family activities here and this weekend was not exception. Weigh in this morning showed 7 successful lbs off of my original body weight.  I must say that I am surprised though.  My eating habits have change but not that drastically.  I cut out snacking, pop, and have been drinking alot of water.  I have been eating quite a few more salads.  I am trying to eat at least one salad per day & eat my large meal at lunch time.  Also, another tactic is to not eat 2.5 hours before bed.  I had 1/2 a small rootbeer float yesterday, it was yummy but I thought I would counteract with two salads today.  Nothing very interesting over the weekend.  Bye for now.

Woweewowwow

If you have not seen Wow-wow Wubbzy then you don't get my title.  I wish there was a Wubbzinator 3000 to make me skinny.  Week 2 is great, but eating healthy is harder then it sounds when you are used to eating out as much as we have.  I was out and looked at the calorie count of some of the salads that are offered by the fast food industry and I might as well eat a hamburger or chicken nuggets.  There are a few choices out there now that the fast food industry has health conscious people breathing down their necks to create better choices, especially for children.  I look around and see so many fat little children and wonder why their parents don't change their diet, but it is not cheap to eat healthy. I did decide to let myself have one day off so that I don't gorge on foods that I crave. I am doing very well with calorie counting, and allowing myself to eat what my body wants, within limitations.  Next week I am going to start weaning myself down on caffiene. I even thought about a colon cleanse, the healthy way.  I also started to jog slowly. I have to watch my hernia, so I cannot do full blown physical activity. Slow and steady is the way to keep it off.

FYI- This time last year I was pregnant and by the time my 4th child was born I tipped the scales at 185.  Now Today I am 142 and would like to reach 130 by July.

I found a website with healthy recipes: going to try one to night!

I also have been looking at light workouts that are effective, due to my hernia I am unable to do normal workouts.  I found this one:

Well take care people I hope you are striving at developing healthy habits also.

Week 2

Last week turned out well for us.  With my calorie counting I lost 3 lbs and have kept it off. My hubby is doing well without smoking.  Our home eating habits are begginning to change, all of the snacking in between meels has minimalized.

I found a Cholesterol article that I would like to share the url:

This eating Healthy thing is killing me.

Eating healthy 24/7 is killing me.  I have been craving chocolate like crazy and want to devour an entire bag of snickers at this point.  I have been sticking to my 1000 or less calorie diet per day, and have been doing well on it. I actually feel better. I have more energy.

My husband is so busy that it is hard to find the time to workout together.  Even if it is just doing the Wii.  He is doing well without smoking, and I just have to keep reminding him that he was the one who wanted to get healthy for Our children.

My personal goals:
1. Tone up withing 6 months
2. Try to decrease measurements by 1in in 6 months
3. eat out only 1 time per month
4.workout 4 times per week
5. try to increase energy levels naturally
6. Work my way into being able to run a marathon in a year.

Hubby's personal goals:
1. quit smoking
2. Eat Healthier
3. Tone up

Day 3 of our Adventure

So our overall goals are:
1. to be the healthiest Us that we can be without denying ourselves our idle pleasures in life, like the occassional candy bar, or MCD's run.  I must add this is hard to do when you have become relient upon the convience of the fast food industry and junk food.
2. We each are choosing to get toned up and into a fitness routine.  Our goal is to be toned in 6 months and to reach our maximum fitness level in a years time.

So day 2 ended with some raw broccoli for our family with ham and it was delicious.  I must say that eating raw vegetable is way more expensive then the frozen ones, but of course less sodium.  My hubby is doing wonderful quitting smoking. I walked yesterday for about 20 minutes. I am going to try to do this 3 times this week, it is a slow and steady start.  This week I am monitoring my caloric intake and trying to eat only 1000 calories per day.  So far so good.

Day1

A little backgroud information: My husband and I have been together for eight years, we have 4 amazing children together. Through each of my 5 pregnancies in the past 7 years my husband gained weight with me and lost some after we were not pregnant any longer, but we just never could get back into our original shapes. We are comfortable, and happy, but out of shape and not as healthy as we would like to be.  So we are undertaking this challenge for each other and our children.

Maybe I should start at the beginning. I recently took a trip with my four children to MI my home state to see my mother, while being away my husband became very ill and could not shake this illness. This adventure all started with him deciding to quit smoking & start slowly working out. So, I decided to follow him and support him throughout his time to reach his goals.  We have both dieted and worked out in the past 8 years but neither of us has stuck with a routine or had the support of the other. [In fact right before the holidays I had lost 10lbs and was elated to fit into some of my skinny jeans.  I had broken the barrier that had for so long kept me feeling depressed about the way I looked.]  We are going to start slow and work toward achievable goals.  I cannot say that we will not eat at McD's, but we will not be going there 2-3 times a week like we have been doing. I cannot say that we will workout everyday, but we will workout as we can and work into a routine.  With love and support we will reach our goals (we are still setting our goals to be listed later).
